What is condenser? What are the types of condenser?

What is Condenser? It is a mechanical device which is used to condense the exhaust steam.   What is steam condenser? Steam condenser is a device in which the exhaust steam is condensed by means of cooling water.   What is the function of steam condenser? The main purpose of a steam condenser in thermal power plant is to maintain a low back pressure on the exhaust side of the steam turbine.   What are the elements of steam condenser?     Condenser pump Air extraction pump Boiler Feed water pump Cooling water pump   Explanation of steam condenser Condensate pump Condensate pump extracts the condensate from condenser to the hot well. Air extraction pump It separates the air and non condensate gases from condenser. Non condensation gases sent to the atmosphere. Boiler Feed water pump It feeds water to the boiler from hot well. Cooling water pump The cooling water circulated by the cooling water pump from reservoir to condenser. Cooling tower In con

Working principle of Vapour Compression Refrigeration System

How does a Vapour Compression Refrigeration System work ? v   The main components of vapour compression system are 1.        Compressor 2.        Condenser 3.        Expansion valve 4.        Evaporator v   Compressor – It is used to increase the pressure of refrigerant from evaporator pressure to condenser pressure. For low pressure application reciprocating compressor is used. For very high pressure application, centrifugal compressor is used. v   Condenser – The main function is to condensate the vapour refrigerant into liquid refrigerant. In household, air cooled refrigerant is used. For industrial applications water and liquid cooled refrigerant is used. v   Expansion valve – It is used to control the flow rate. It makes partial evaporated liquid refrigerant to evaporator pressure. v   Evaporator – It is used to evaporate the refrigerant by transferring the heat from the area to be cooled. v   Process 1-2 – Pressure of the vapour refrigerant is increased by compr

LAYOUT OF THERMAL OR STEAM POWER PLANT - THERMAL ENGINEERING

LAYOUT OF THERMAL OR STEAM POWER PLANT  Thermal power plant also known as steam power plant. It uses steam as a working medium. Plant is used to make electricity by rotating shaft of turbine which is connected with generator. VIDEO LECTURE Introduction Layout of thermal or steam power plant   In thermal power plant, steam is an important medium for producing mechanical energy. Water is converted into steam by boiler using coal as fuel and it is used to drive the steam turbine. Heat energy of the steam is converted into mechanical energy by the steam turbine . Mechanical energy is used for generating power by generator . Steam has advantage that it can be raised from water which is available in abundance.   Circuits of thermal power plant   The layout of the thermal power plant consists of four main circuits. They are, Coal and ash circuit Air and flue gas circuit Water and steam circuit Cooling water circuit   Coal and Ash circuit Coal and Ash circuit The various stages
